In a room packed with hundreds of her peers, Brooke Rollins, president of the Texas Public Policy Foundation , accepted the 2008 Thomas Roe Award, the top honor for free-market state think tank leadership. Dr. Jim Leininger, a founder and longtime board member of Texas Public Policy Foundation, presented Rollins the award at SPN's 16th Annual Meeting.
"Brooke Rollins' ability and passion for conservative principles are evident to anyone who has been in her presence," said Texas Gov. Rick Perry, for whom Rollins served as deputy general counsel and policy director before moving over to the FoundationTPPF. "It's been a privilege to watch Brooke develop from an FFA officer at Glen Rose High School into one of Texas' most outstanding leaders."
Rollins attended Texas A&M University and graduated cum laude with a Bachelor of Science degree in agriculture development. While at Texas A&M, she was the first female to serve as Student Body President. Before joining Governor Perry's staff, she graduated with honors from the University of Texas School of Law and spent several years as a litigator with Hughes & Luce in Dallas.
"In the six years since Brooke Rollins took the reins, the Texas Public Policy Foundation has become a dominant force in Texas and a role model for other states wanting economic growth and prosperity for their citizens," said TPPF chairman Dr. Wendy Gramm. "I congratulate Brooke on this honor and am thrilled that her outstanding work in support of limited government and individual liberty has been acknowledged in this way."
