State Policy Network welcomes two new employees to the Arlington, Virginia office. Laurel Tacoma is the operations administrator and Denise Chaykun has joined SPN in a new position as the Leadership and Grants Specialist.

As the operations administrator, Laurel is responsible for the daily internal business of SPN, including assisting with events and fundraising. Laurel recently moved to Falls Church from Columbus, Ohio, where she worked in the Worthington Public Libraries. Previously she worked for the Cadillac Wexford Historical Museum in Cadillac, Michigan, gathering and compiling local historical information and making it available for the public. She enjoys traveling and spent a year in Wales as part of a study abroad program for Ohio Northern University, where she received her undergraduate degree in English literature.

Denise is joining State Policy Network to work on the Request for Proposal program and management mentoring efforts. She brings significant experience to the state movement from her previous role at the Charles G. Koch Charitable Foundation working on the Koch Associate Program and directing the Koch Internship Program. Prior to that, Denise ran the television training program at the Leadership Institute. Denise is originally from the Philadelphia area and received her bachelor's degree in psychology and history from Bucknell University. While at Bucknell she was also a president and founding member of the Bucknell University Conservatives Club and appeared in a New York Times Magazine cover story about student activists.

Contact Laurel at tacoma@spn.org and Denise at chaykun@spn.org. Alternatively, meet them in Scottsdale, Arizona at SPN's 16th Annual Meeting, September 11-12.

About SPN

State Policy Network is made up of free market think tanks - at least one in every state - fighting to limit government and advance market-friendly public policy at the state and local levels. SPN and our members make the Founders' vision for the American Republic a reality as the nation's only 50-state distribution network for market-oriented public policy ideas. Our programs advance and defend American liberty and free enterprise by assisting new start-up organizations, growing existing state think tanks, recruiting talent to the think tank industry, developing strategic partnerships, and promoting the free-market state movement.
