Heartland's Eastern Regional Energy Summit (www.heartland.org/energysummit.cfm) will gather state legislators from the east coast states (Florida to Maine). The event will take place in Newport, Rhode Island, August 17-18. For legislators, there is no registration fee, and Heartland will pay for two nights' accommodations at the host hotel (the Marriott Newport), and reimburse up to $300 in travel expenses. This event builds on the success of Heartland's first Energy Summit, held in March.

JOB OPENING: CIVIL JUSTICE TASK FORCE DIRECTOR
The American Legislative Exchange Council (ALEC), a non-profit, bipartisan membership association for conservative state lawmakers has a full time position available for a Civil Justice Task Force Director (CJTFD). ALEC is the nation's largest nonpartisan, individual membership organization of state legislators, with over 2,400 legislator members from all fifty states, and 88 alumni members serving in the U.S. Congress. The CJTFD develop and manage Task Force budget, while identifying and soliciting financial support for Task Force Activities and related events. Communicate ALEC's civil justice policy positions by promoting model legislation, testifying before legislative committees, preparing issue briefs, providing legislative research and analysis, organizing state-specific issue briefings and national workshops, and representing ALEC in state and federal coalitions. Communicate ALEC's agenda to the public through written materials, media appearances and public speaking engagements. Write and commission articles for ALEC's newsletters, Issue Analyses, and Action Alerts. Manage the Disorder in the Court Network, a group of more than 600 ALEC-trained legislators, industry representatives, in-state coalitions, and grassroots activists, committed to reforming the civil justice. JOB OPENING: TELECOMMUNICATIONS & INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY TASK FORCE DIRECTOR
The American Legislative Exchange Council (ALEC), a non-profit, bipartisan membership association for conservative state lawmakers has a full time position available for a Telecommunications & Information Technology Task Force Director (TITTFD). ALEC is the nation's largest nonpartisan, individual membership organization of state legislators, with over 2,400 legislator members from all fifty states, and 88 alumni members serving in the U.S. Congress. TIITFD educate and advise members on technologies and telecom/IT public policy so they will be knowledgeable of important issues and legislative trends affecting industry and states. Assist task force members with drafting model legislation that includes performing legislative research, building consensus, and creating supporting documentation. Coordinate efforts with task force members to assist with state and federal legislation, which include testifying before state legislative committees, recommending amendments, as well as writing press releases, op-eds, issue alerts, and talking points. JOB OPENING: CENTER FOR ECONOMIC PROSPERITY DIRECTOR
The Goldwater Institute seeks an experienced, senior-level fiscal policy analyst to direct its Center for Economic Prosperity. A full description of the Center is online. The director will be responsible for the strategic vision, research and operations of the center. Specific tasks include researching and writing studies and articles, planning and hosting forums and conferences, initiating research projects with outside scholars, editing papers, public speaking, and supervising new analysts. The Evergreen Freedom Foundation (EFF), a non-profit, non-partisan, public policy organization in Olympia, WA, has a full-time position available for a Director of its Economic Policy Center, one of four Centers at the Foundation. EFF's mission is to advance individual liberty, free enterprise, and limited, accountable government. The person in this position must wholeheartedly concur with the Foundation's mission. The EPC director is responsible for working with senior staff to develop strategies, tactics and performance objectives necessary to advance the Center's mission.
