Where the Policy Experts Are
Does your organization need a policy expert to write a commentary or report? To speak at your next event or testify before a government entity? Serve as an academic advisor to peer review publications? The following are a few good places to start your search and connect with scholars and policy analysts who will fit your needs.
- Find Scholars draws on the extensive database of the Institute for Humane Studies, which celebrates its 50th anniversary this year. IHS has a network of thousands of liberty-friendly professionals across a spectrum of disciplines, including economics, political science, public policy and law. Visit the website to learn more about this free initiative, or send a request for scholars to find@ihs.gmu.edu.
- Policy Experts, a database hosted by The Heritage Foundation, is searchable by name, affiliation, location and more than 175 areas of expertise. Links are included to many of the experts' curricula vitae and biographies. Also, those who have experience testifying before state or federal legislative committees are identified.
- State Think Tank CEO Listserv, created by SPN for its members, allows institute CEOs to ask their peers for policy expert recommendations. Note: This listserv is available only for use by the top executives of SPN member state think tanks. However, think tank staff can ask their CEO to inquire on their behalf.
